Circa 1800, Rajasthan, opaque pigments, ink and gold on paper, a scene from the great epic story Ramayana, Rama and Sita are featured sitting on a golden throne, the coronation is being performed by the Sage Vasistha, the audience includes many Hindu deities and nobles, the details of the figures and attention to architecture and fauna are very fine, dark blue and red borders with white rules, inscribed to the reverse, framed over a mat under glass.

Painting only 11 7/8 x 8 1/8 in.

Some losses to pigments and paper on edges, especially in lower section and upper right hand corner; possible water stain at top near margin; margins appear to have been trimmed on left and right hand side; reverse of painting with inscriptions.
