Late 19th century, includes two paintings in the nim qalam or "half pen" style, featuring finely painted figures and animals in black ink with mainly monochrome wash highlighted with gold and touches of body color; the first is a painting of a shah on horseback shooting arrows at a blackbuck, muted landscape in washed tones; and the second a painting of a shah and his wife riding atop an elephant with mountainous background and light blue sky in washed tones; both framed under glass, not examined outside of the frames.

Both paintings purchased in India during the 1960s.

Largest: frame dimensions 9 1/2 x 13 1/4 in.

Both paintings with scattered areas of dark discoloration to paper, more on elephant painting; painted floral mat has some wear to the edges and some scattered losses to paper overall.
