Late 19th century, watercolor, ink and gouche on paper, two lovers wearing elaborate clothing and pearls embrace on a large pillow of finely decorated interior, hills and fauna under a darkening sky outside add to the intimacy of the scene, surrounded with a bronze metallic border with registers of text above and below, reverse side of paper is all text, framed loose above a fabric mat, ornate frame.

Frame dimensions 12 1/2 x 10 1/4 in.

Paper is dry and brittle; some cracking with loss to page; painting itself in good condition.
