Doug Prince received his MFA in Photography from the University of Iowa in 1968. In the 1970s, he taught at the University of Florida alongside Jerry Uelsmann, Robert Fichter, Evon Streetman and Todd Walker. While at UF, Prince developed a darkroom technique to seamlessly combine two or more negatives to produce a single surrealistic image.

Since then, Prince has exhibited extensively throughout the United States. His works are in such prominent public collections as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia; Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Arizona; International Center of Photography, New York; Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Princeton Art Museum, Princeton, New Jersey; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He has exhibited internationally.
