A Chinese Lacquered and Gilt Wood Family Altar

Late 19th or 20th century, a black lacquered altar highlighted in gilt, has a central opening with sections divided by borders of reticulated gilt decoration carved with auspicious symbols and figures, the floor of the interior has a red ground, the back of the altar is painted in gilt with a faux folding screen of figures in a house surrounded by lush landscape of trees, river and mountains, later light fixture fixed to interior to illuminate the shrine.
