Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, circa 1920s, carved and painted wood.

Length 18 in.

Willie spent a lot of time making decoys with Manie Haywood. They were both stationed at the Kill Devil Hills Life Saving Station. Manie was a warrant officer and Willie was the Chief. Willie carved his canvasbacks with elongated bills which make them stand out. They have exceptional form and are Carolina Classics.

Original paint with moderate gunning wear, working repair to the neck.
