20th century, black lacquered screen with carved scenes painted in muted colors, the front with a languid scene of a palace complex interior, a compound of buildings contain mostly female figures engaged in leisure and scholarly activities, children are playing in the courtyard, the reverse side decorated with birds and flowers, borders to each side, capped metal feet.
