Havre de Grace, Maryland, circa 1880, carved and painted wood, branded RECKLESS.

Length 12 in.

The RECKLESS brand is from the earliest known hunting scow on the Susquehanna River. The scow was built in Havre de Grace and carried sport hunters from New York and other wealthy northern cities to the hunting grounds. The RECKLESS branded decoys are often considered the "Holy Grail" of Upper Bay decoys.

Old gunning paint stripped to bare wood, surface has application of linseed oil, putty used to fill in voids on the bottom, working repair to the neck.
