Early 20th century, likely Italian, rectangular form with shell clasp, lid with painted image of Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus behind glass and surrounded by purple stone mount decoration, underside and sides with engraved scrolling floral and lion motif, gilt wash interior, marked "800." Without monogram.
