Circa 1850, an former flintlock smoothbore rifle converted to percussion, having a boldly figured curly maple stock which supports a 37 in. octagonal barrel terminating with an etched brass muzzle cap, TRYON / PHILADELPHIA stamped on the iron lock plate, "Joshua Davis" (likely the owner) is engraved on an etched brass inlay on the cheek rest, a silver cheek rest inlay is above with a silver crescent moon inlay is on the stock, a finely engraved brass patchbox is present with the release button located at the bottom of the stock, wood ramrod present.

Length 53 in.

Brass inlayed lockbolt sideplate is cracked, overall stable oxidation to ferrous elements, otherwise remarkable estate condition.
