Joe Knapp founded Ducks Unlimited in 1937. He purchased Wallace O'Neal, Jr.'s hunting rig in the 1930s and cut the bodies down in order to provide for a wider base so the decoys would ride better in the Currituck chop. The decoys from the Knapp rig are historically important.
