Circa 1910, carved and painted wood, Saunders Foundry ballast weight, with twisted cotton anchor line.

Length 13 in.

attributed by some to Robert Henley (VA, 1886-1965) of the Upper Back Bay, this decoy has always been in this preening position per X-Ray analysis, head original to the body. Preening decoys from the Carolinas and Back are extremely rare, wonderful folk art appeal.

Old gunning paint, multiple age checks in the body.
