Qing dynasty (1644-1912), late 18th century or early 19th century, a large baluster form vase with rich black mirror glaze, with a white foot and brownish tan at rim to white interior, vase drilled and fitted in mounts with key motif, three light bulb fitting, cloisonne ball finial on adjustable mount that can be shorten.

This vase is a wonderful example of the more brilliant mirror black glaze that was developed at Jingdezhen during the early 18th century. Produced by combining oxides of iron and manganese with Chinese cobalt, this new glaze produced a richer color than earlier Chinese black glazes.

Good estate condition; vase drilled for lamp fitting with a large rough cut area.
