Born in Warwick, Frank Duffield moved to Bristol in 1924 to work as artist at the studio of Mardon Son and Hall. He worked as illustrator with the studio until his retirement in 1961. He was elected an Artist Member of the Bristol Savages in 1946, an informal group of visual artists, poets and musicians.
