Fonnie Tillet was born and raised in Kitty Hawk Village and as a very young boy learned how to hunt, build boats, carve decoys and fish. Early in life he helped market hunters and later market hunted himself before joining the Coast Guard. Most of his duck decoys were made when he was a teenager but with years of hard use only a few have survived.
