Paul J. Stankard (American, b.1943), Two Flower and Bee Crystal Paperweights
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Including a 1991 A16 experimental of a flame-worked spirit wrapped in a root system with blue flowers and bumblebee, signed; together with a 1992 C65 flame-worked morning glory bee bouquet, signed.

Experimental 3 in. diameter, morning glory 2.75 in. diameter

From the Collection of Francine & Benson Pilloff, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The experimental weight features an unusual peach colored pregnant spirit with head and arms taking the form of plants to represent birth and new life (also note one of the flowers internally is detached from the stem, likely a mistake, but adds to the tale of the mishaps of life itself).

Paul Stankard is an internationally acclaimed artist and pioneer in the studio glass movement. He is considered a living master in the art of the paperweight, and his work is represented in more than 60 museums around the world.

Both in good condition.
