12th or 13th century, Iran, probably Kashan, fritware painted in black on a white slip under turquoise glaze, decorated with geometric patterns to interior, high foot, unglazed to the underside.

From the collection of Thomas English Cody (1889-1948), the great nephew of Buffalo Bill Cody, and by family descent.

Writing to the underside; old label to foot; repairs and restoration to bowl; slight loss to foot rim; scattered iridescent encrustations to the surface.
