Meiji period (1868-1912), the large charger has petal molding to central well with plum blossoms and large gilt blue leaves, the surrounding border with an assortment of large chrysanthemum blossoms and scrolling vine pattern, scalloped edges, exterior sides with Buddhist treasure motifs, blue orchid mark to underside, and a smaller serving bowl with shochikubai plum, bamboo, and pine decoration to interior surrounded by shaped vignettes with birds flying under blooming trees, underside foot has unglazed and glazed portions.

Bowl 3 3/4 in., 9 1/2 in. diameter; Charger 3 1/2 in., 17 in. diameter

Good estate condition; charger has scattered staining or running pigments from firing to surface.
