Lot Details & Additional Photographs
After the 1918 original for the Schelling family, painted ash, loose lower shelf, signed and dated 2016, Jim McGlothlin.

44.5 x 19 x 25 in.

From the Collection of James McGlothlin, Louisburg, North Carolina

Rietveld (Dutch, 1888-1964), an accomplished architect and designer was a founder of the De Stijl movement and heavily involved with the Bauhaus school. Designed for architect H.G.J. Schelling, the highchair was Rietveld's first design published in magazine De Stijl. The original chair was lost and it wasn't until the 1970s that a small amount of special reproductions came to market.

The consignor, James McGlothlin (contemporary American architect), has carefully hand built some of Rietveld's most iconic designs.

Good condition.
