19th century, England, three within covered wooden boxes, including a Porters magentic sundial, made by Samuel Porter of London (fl.1823-1824), labeled to interior lid; one within a brass box marked "D.L. Smith's Patent 1870"; the fifth, a navigator compass, has a brass chapter ring and collapsible sundial, lacks lid.
