Edo period (1615-1868) or earlier, ink, colors and metallics on silk, paintings of full-length monk figures with feet on cloud-like lotus blossoms, gold halo around their heads, composed in the Kamakura period Buddhist painting style, both paintings are mounted with backing paper and metallic gold woven style brocade, one painting is framed and the other is loose, framed painting has not been examined outside of the frame.

Framed painting 52 1/2 x 24 in.; Unframed painting 51 x 23 in.

Mounting on unframed painting is separating from painted image at top; wear and breaks with loss to top portion of both paintings; scattered repairs, possible restoration to pigments and creasing to both paintings; dirt to surface, staining and discoloration to both paintings; color change on framed painting may be later restoration.
