George Midgett enjoyed shorebird hunting with his friend and brother-in-law John Allen Midgett, Sr. Depending upon weather and rainfall conditions, they would either hunt near the ocean or the marshes near where Pea Island Refuge is today. A rig mate is published on page 146 of Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.
