Meiji period (1868-1912), includes three woodblock print triptychs circa 1904, the first by Mizuno Toshikata, the second by Utagawa Kokunimasa, and the third by Kyoko, all presented loose except for top margin that is secured to paper folder.

Senso-e, literally "war pictures," are a particularly dramatic form of Japanese woodblock print that emerged as a style of reportage during the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877, and went on to become a widespread and popular way of disseminating patriotic imagery during the Meiji period of the Sino-Japanese war and Russo-Japanese war.

Overall very good condition; one triptych with paper backing to prints and some toning and discoloration around edges; some dirt to surface; some light wear to edges; two triptychs have some trimming to prints.
