Meiji period (1868-1912), includes four woodblock print triptychs, one by Kobayashi Kiyochika, one by Toshihide Migita, and two by other Meiji period woodblock print artists, all presented loose except for top margin that is secured to paper folder.

Senso-e, literally "war pictures," are a particularly dramatic form of Japanese woodblock print that emerged as a style of reportage during the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877, and went on to become a widespread and popular way of disseminating patriotic imagery during the Meiji period of the Sino-Japanese war and Russo-Japanese war.

Overall good condition; some small areas of staining to one triptych; one triptych with backing paper to each print, also with vertical crease down center print; a second triptych with vertical crease down center of print; rubbing and wear to edges of all.
