This goose by Percy Carawan is arguably the most recognized root head decoy from North Carolina. All of Percy's decoy heads were made with varying positions since they were made from black gum roots while the bodies were made from cedar or juniper logs. Jack Dudley placed this decoy on the cover of his book as he believed Percy Carawan was one of two of the most significant Hyde County makers amd this is amongst his finest efforts. The turned looking down head posture of this decoy gives it a referent bowing pose.

Old gunning paint, some wear to the base of the neck.
