Lambert Morris (NC, 1904-1969), Pair of Redheads
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Atlantic, North Carolina, circa 1940s, carved and painted wood.

Length 14.5 in.

From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen, Charlotte, North Carolina

Judge Lambert Morris was deeply influenced by friend and carving companion, Alvin Harris. This composed pair of redheads are made from balsa salvaged from life rafts of Liberty ships sunk off the coast during the Second World War. The base board is made from juniper and the wide flat bottoms allowed the decoys to ride well in the wind driven chop. The heads were attached with threaded copper rods and bolts that extended though the bottom board. Hens are extremely rare so this pair of redheads are very unique.

Original paint, wear to tip of the tail on the drake.
