Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Oil on canvas board, signed at lower right, depicting a man and woman seated with a table and flower vase between them, framed under glass.

Frame dimensions 16 5/8 x 20 3/4 in.

From the Estate of the late Dr. Everette James, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

In an interview with Dr. James in 1991, Lillian Webb said "I can't paint for nobody but myself." When you get paid it becomes "art work."

She went on to say: "I have been wanting to draw since I was in the 6th grade at Berry and then later at Central but they didn't tell me you could take art. Any way I am a natural and I think I am good. My grandmother painted but I think I am better than her. My parents and brother and sister didn't. My three sons like art and the youngest, Doug, does a little."

Minor nicking to frame; not examined out of the frame.
