The Kalo Shop was founded in 1900 in Chicago, Illinois by Clara P. Bark. The original group included six female graduates of the design course at the Chicago Art Institute, including Clara. At first, they focused on pyrography and leatherwork, textiles, copper, baskets and jewelry. By 1914, the shop was in Chicago and they focused on handwrought copper and silver items.

The Shop remained in operation until 1970. At one point, over twenty-five silversmiths were employed. Most items were designed by woman, dubbed the "Kalo Girls," but there were male silversmiths as well.

Light scratching to each.
