Ocracoke, North Carolina, circa 1940s, carved and painted wood.

Length 12.5 in.

From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen, Charlotte, North Carolina

Former collection of Tom Pollard.

Reportedly, when Wahab first started hunting in the 1930s he made his first stand of decoys with George Washington O'Neal. He hunted with and guided for Thurston Gaskill and Charlie Warren Garrish. Family members remember him carving a stand of pintails, redheads, and geese in 1947. It is believed this decoy is from that 1947 rig.

Old gunning paint, age check down the back.
