Stacy, North Carolina, circa 1920s, carved and painted wood, iron bill and stake, mounted loosely on a vintage thumb pump oil can.

Length 9.5 in.

Julian Hamilton, Sr. made his decoy with his cousin, Clyde Mason in the 1920s. Reportedly, they jointly carved them and shared in their use. Jack Dudley featured a rig mate on pages 114 and 115 of his book, Carteret Waterfowl Heritage.

Original paint with moderate gunning wear, hit by shot, corrosion to iron elements.
