Two Japanese Silk Uchikake Wedding Kimonos

20th century, includes two uchikake kimonos, the first with an ivory silk ground embroidered with pairs of golden birds, bright pink flowers and aqua blue leaves, silver metallic plum blossoms and peony blossoms, and the second with an ivory silk ground embroidered in metallic thread with birds amidst large blooming chrysanthemum flowers, fans and Heian period style carriages, both of these kimonos are lined in red, these robes were meant to be worn as an outer coat during a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony.

Each 73 x 52 in.

Embroidery in excellent condition; the first with some loose threads at bottom hem; some light staining at lower edge of white silk robe and sleeves, the second with some light stains to edges of sleeves and near hem; blue marks with some discoloration to front center; some light blue marks at edge of sleeve.
