Hans Hansen (1884-1940) opened a goldsmith shop and smithy in Kolding, Denmark about 1906. Before opening his own shop, Hansen trained in the workshops of Georg Jensen. Hansen quickly gained a reputation for his innovative designs and high quality craftsmanship. In 1925, his designs were awarded a gold medal at the 1925 World Exposition in Paris. His son, Karl Gustav Hansen, continued the business after his father's death until the company merged with Georg Jensen in 1992.
