When Vernon Ewell got out of the Army in the 1940s, he made a stand of canvas geese and swans for his own use. These decoys had heavy canvas and straight upright heads which provided for an alert pose. This exact swan was made for the Barbers Hill Club but never delivered. It received very little use and remains in remarkable condition.
