Dr. Edgar Burke was a frequent visitor to the shores of North Carolina and particularly enjoyed hunting on Ocracoke. This Dr. Edgar Burke flattie willet is probably one of the first shorebird decoys made in North Carolina to receive detailed feather paint. He was an acclaimed sporting artist and it was natural for him to paint in this detailed manner. He ultimately taught Alvin Harris how to paint shorebird decoys.

Original paint with no signs of use.
