Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Atlantic and Beaufort, North Carolina, circa 1950, carved and painted cork body with wooden head and base, ink stamped DECOY COLLECTION / DOILY E. FULCHER and BL-43 in marker pen.

Length 17 in.

From the Collection of Doily Fulcher, King George, Virginia

Lambert Morris was deeply influenced by his friend Alvin Harris. He typically made his decoy bodies out of cork or balsa. They typically have wide flat bottoms which allowed them to ride well in the wind driven chop of Core Sound. He attached his heads with threaded copper rods and bolts which extended through the juniper bottom board. This example has strong original paint.

Original paint with light gunning wear
