Mark of Gorham, pattern number 365, 1 pint capacity, double handle trophy with round pedestal foot, featuring ornate shell, scale, seaweed, and floral motifs beneath and undulating rim, body engraved to one side PRESENTED TO / RACHEL W. UNDERHILL / BY THE / FROEBEL SOCIETY / MAY 19, 1899, the opposite with RWU script monogram.

Rachel W. Underhill was listed in Brooklyn, New York as the Froebel Society's president in 1899 according to pg. 232 of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle Almanac. As an organization of educators, university-based researchers, and early years providers, the International Froebel Society provides an international forum for the development of child-centered and play-based educational theories and practices, especially but not exclusively those associated with the inventor of the Kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel (1782-1852).
