Rare Luther Fulcher (NC, 1903-1935), Redhead
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, circa 1925, carved and painted wood, incised LF.

Length 14.5 in.

Very little has been written about Luther Fulcher. He was the brother of Ben Fulcher and was once considered the finest carver on Ocracoke Island. He reportedly worked for Bill Gaskill in the Beacon Island operation with his brother. The majority of his decoys were lost in a wire. This redhead is very well carved and extremely rare.

Old gunning paint, working repair to the neck, tight age checks in the body.
