René Lalique (France, 1860-1945), Suzanne Glass Statuette
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
1925, molded opalescent glass with satin finish, polished underside etched "R. Lalique France No. 833."

8 7/8 x 7 1/4 x 2 in.

From the Estate of the late Robin Satinsky, Donglomur, Villanova, Pennsylvania

Lalique has mastered the use of varying thicknesses with the coloration of the opalescent glass in this sculpture, where light creates a fiery-peach coloration in the figure's body against the whiteish-blue hues of her open robe.

While unclear as to the inspiration behind this glass work of art, Rene's daughter, Suzanne, would have been 33 at the time this was produced and helped design works with her father and continued making art of her own throughout her lifetime in various mediums.

Corner chip to base at rear right corner; shelf wear to underside polished edge; underside of left breast with small pock mark; the underside of each arm to fabric area with tight line which appears superficial (possibly in the mold and the same lines found in other examples), see photos for details.
