Fairings were given away as prizes or souvenirs at the fairground and were mostly small porcelain ornaments. The word fairing is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as 'a present given at or brought from a fair'.

Most with small chips and losses, several with hairlines, losses to gilding and paint; a rowboat fairing with break and repair and (2) losses; boy and dog composition with (1) break and (1) possible repair; girl and kitten with larger losses; hoop rolling figure with break to hoop.
