John Tyng Peabody was born in 1756 in Concord, Massachusettes, and was active in Enfield, Connecticut from 1779 to 1787. He moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1787 and was active there until his death in 1822.

John Peabody was born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1792., the son of John Tyng Peabody. He was active in Fayetteville, North Carolina from 1823 to 1836, and in Nashville, Tennessee from 1836 to 1849.
