2001, Women in the Family (Người Đàn Bà Trong Dòng Họ), an impressive lacquer painting in two parts, with pigment and gold silver foil on wood, signed to lower left, framed without glass in a large ornate frame that appears to be rosewood.

Bui Huu Hung is a leading modern artist in Vietnam working in the traditional lacquer painting medium and elevating it to new levels through addition of chiaroscuro style atmosphere giving his paintings and rich intimate and almost dreamlike presence.
