Antique Bannerette Weathervane
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Mid to late 19th century, attributed to J. Howard & Co., West Bridgewater, Massachusetts (active 1850-68), cut sheet copper with traces of lead and tin with iron mounts, lyre and scroll motif with star and arrow terminals, mounted atop a later custom wood base.

Weathervane 16 3/4 x 40 7/8 in.; HOA 19 3/8 in.

Some denting and scratching, with verdigris, rust, and other signs of outdoor display; (1) small hole in vertical support (still stable), (1) minor loss in largest star; rubbing and pentimenti along the midline, suggest that the form may have supported full-bodied elements.
