20th century, a large and ornate Japanese Satsuma jar hand painted in moriage technique, decorating with samurai to one side and a court dancer to the other, raised on a base with four shaped stout legs, domed cover with a foo lion finial, flanking the upper body of the jar are two foo lions decorated in a similar manner to the finial.
