Oil on canvas, 1971, signed at lower left, presented in a giltwood frame.

Stretcher size 21 3/4 x 25 1/2 in. Frame dimensions 28 1/4 x 32 1/4 in.

Poum Malakoul studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nancy, France and began his career as an architect. He designed the Erawan Hotel in Bangkok, the Chitrlada Palace, and the Monument of Victory, among other Thai structures. The artist received awards for his designs of the SEATO emblem and the stamps for the Southeast Asia Peninsula Games.

Poum Malakoul's work is held in many prestigious collections, including the Kasikornbank, and his paintings were part of an exhibition of modern Thai masters at the Queen's Gallery in Bangkok.

Soft cockling to canvas at corners, stable craquelure, otherwise good estate condition.
