Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century, a gilt carved wood sculpture of Jizo Botatsu (Ksitigarbha) seated in meditation with hands together on his lap, eyes downcast, serene look to his face, on a shishi dog or foo lion, raised up on a decorated paneled base, carved to be viewed from all sides.

16 1/2 x 16 x 11 in.

Overall very good estate condition; some small nicks to one ear of lion; a stress crack to wood base that runs under lion head; loss to finger on figure; some rubbing and wear with small minor nicks to edges of base.
