Late 19th or early 20th century, ink on paper, four panels presented on a four-panel folding screen with silk brocade mounting, each painting depicts one of the plants associated with the four seasons: plum, orchid, chrysanthemum and bamboo, referred together as
sagunia meaning 四君子 "the four gentlemen," the traits of the plants were characteristics a gentleman should possess: humility, purity, righteousness, and perseverance, each panel with calligraphy and a red artist's seal, wooden frame with metal hardware at corners.

Overall very good estate condition; some minor scattered losses to paper; some light; some scattered areas of very light toning.
