Giovanni Battista Guarini (1538-1612) was an Italian poet and professor who worked for the Duke of Ferrara. His best known work is Il Pastor Fido, a pastoral play first published in 1590.

Wear and discoloration to boards, corners bumped with small loss to one, several small wormholes on spine and joints; cracking at rear hinges, writing in ink and pencil on paste-down, light toning and foxing, occasional wormhole, stain, or grime; repair to title page; lacking portrait engraving otherwise collating as complete, a good copy of this important edition.
