Pair of Vintage Twin Size Beds and Mirror
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
19th century turned figured cherry posts with shaped panel pine headboard with spindle support and turned upper rail to the footboards, with pine hook-rails; together with a carved mahogany rectangular mirror featuring rosette corners and convex surround.

Headboard 48 x 44.75 in., mirror 24 x 36 in.

This lot is accompanied by a 1974 Courier-Times newspaper article about Waverly Plantation in Cunningham, NC, from where these beds originate. It is of note that Thomas Day built some of the architectural details and furnishings for the house; the verbal family history is that these beds were also purchased from the Thomas Day cabinet shop in Milton, North Carolina; however, there are no documents or examples to support that claim.

The posts appear to be old and original; however, the panels and rails are later; with patches to the posts at joints; the mirror once part of a dresser, with scuffs to the corners.
