Vol. 1 with portrait frontispiece. Text in English. (Boards with light wear, some corners bumped, light cracking and rubbing at joints; vol. 2 with cracking at rear hinge; book label on paste-down of vol. 1; interiors lightly toned with staining from binder's glue, occasional offsetting, light grime, and minor foxing; overall crisp and unmarked pages; a very good set of the discourses of this famous English artist.)

Text in French. (Boards with chips and cracks to leather, edgewear, corners rubbed, losses at head and tail of spines, joints rubbed with vol. 1 and vol. 3 joints cracking; old label residue at front paste-downs, vol. 2 free endpaper with manuscript; vol. 1 lacking frontispiece, cracking at front hinge, title page loose with losses, wormholes, and stamp, first several leaves with damp staining; vol. 2 title page with stamp; vol. 3 (supplement) with title page cut at upper margin not impacting text, cracking at front hinge, frequent damp staining, one leaf with repair at margin; interiors with pages lightly toned with occasional foxing, grime, small stain or tear, and marginalia; all volumes with one or more leaves with area of thinned paper.)
