Meiji period (1868-1912), extremely large porcelain chargers hand painted in underglaze blue with overglaze iron red, turquoise, aubergine and gilt enamels, the center with
shochikubai or "Three Friends of Winter" in blue representing longevity and auspicious wishes, the remainder of the dish is decorated in brilliant details of picturesque landscapes, animals, and flora in vibrant colors, the exterior sides of each charger have Buddhist treasure motifs in blue, there are kiln spur marks to the underside of each.
